New Honda Odyssey Minivan Priced from $28,580, Available only with V6

Honda has released US pricing for its completely redesigned Odyssey minivan that is set to debut at dealers on September 30. Available exclusively with a 3.5-liter V6 that delivers 248HP, or 4HP more than on the previous model, the 2011 Odyssey is priced from $27,800 for the entry-level LX to $43,250 for the fully equipped Touring Elite model, not including a destination and handling charge of $780.

According to Honda, the increase in 2011 Odyssey pricing represents a 2.5-percent raise on "a sales-weighted basis" compared to the 2010 models being replaced, or approximately $840 on average.

The Odyssey is offered in five trim levels - LX, EX, EX-L, Touring and the new Touring Elite. All models come equipped with electronic stability control (VSA in Honda talk), ABS with electronic brake distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist; three-row side-curtain airbags with a rollover sensor; driver's and front passenger's side airbags with passenger-side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS); dual-stage front airbags; and active front seat head restraints.

Honda said the 3.5-liter i-VTEC V6 delivers an EPA-estimated city/highway/combined fuel economy of 19/28/22 mpg on Odyssey Touring and Touring Elite models that are equipped with a six speed automatic transmission, and 18/27/21 mpg on the Odyssey LX, EX and EX-L variants that receive a five-speed automatic transmission.

Honda Recalling 412,000 Vehicles in the U.S. Over Braking Issues

Approximately 344,000 Honda Odyssey minivans and 68,000 Element crossovers from the 2007-2008 model years are being recalled in the United States to address a problem with the brakes.

The Japanese automaker said that it had received a number of customer complaints of brake pedals that feel "soft" or that gradually needed more pressure to work. Honda added that the in the affected vehicles, this condition tends to "very slowly increase over time".

The problem is said to be caused by air accumulating in the vehicle stability assist (VSA in Honda's lingo) modulator.

"While only a miniscule amount of air can enter the system during each check, over a period of months or years, the air will accumulate and can result in the "soft brake pedal" or "low brake pedal" condition symptoms associated with this issue," said Honda in a statement.

The recall is expected to begin at the end of April.

This latest issue for Honda comes only a month after the maker recalled more than 430,000 vehicles over an airbag inflation problem.

Huh? JDM Honda Odyssey Tricked Out as a BMW

Needless to say, this Japanese domestic market Honda Odyssey isn't your typical soccer-mom's minivan. Besides the insane negative camber all around and the fact that in parking position, the Odyssey sits only about an inch or two away from the road, what makes this custom creation stand out from the crowd is that the designer managed to incorporate the front-end of an E92 BMW 3-Series Coupe. Honda Recalling 2009MY Odyssey Minivans in the U.S.

Owners of the 2009MY Honda Odyssey minivan need to pay attention as the Japanese firm is recalling 421 vehicles in the States over a problem with the braking system. According to Honda, during assembly, incorrect front brake hoses were installed on these particular cars. The brake hose may come in contact with the caliper bolt and over time a hole may develop allowing the brake fluid to leak and consequently, result in reduced brake system performance. Honda's dealers will inspect both front brake hoses and replace with the correct brake hoses free of charge.

Honda Reveals All-New Odyssey MPV in Japan: 30 High-Res Pictures

Before we get into any details let us start off by telling you that the Japanese domestic market (JDM) Odyssey minivan is a different model than the one sold in the States. What you see here is the forth-generation JDM Odyssey which will go on sale in Japan tomorrow, October 17 with Honda claiming that it will be able to push out around 4,000 units per month in the domestic market. The new 7-seater minivan's styling is apparently inspired from Honda's latest models and especially from the European market Accord Station Wagon (see here). -Continued

Available in both AWD and FWD variants, the Odyssey is offered exclusively with a new 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that can be hooked up to either a 5-speed automatic transmission or a CVT gearbox. According to Honda, the Odyssey achieves an average fuel consumption in the Japanese combined cycle of 13,2 km /lt which translates to an overly optimistic 7,6 lt/100 km or 31-mpg.
